Thamnophis elegans
This snake has the most varied diet of all our snakes, perhaps of any snake. There are several subspecies but the most commonly encountered is the Wandering Garter Snake (T.e. vagrans). They are found in a wide variety of habitat types but are usually found near bodies of water such as ponds, lakes and streams. They can even be found foraging for food at saltwater beaches in tidal pools.
